The study and research group on air quality and public health, formed by professors, researchers and students of the National University of Colombia, the University of Los Andes, and La Salle University, is pleased to announce the
I Colombian Air Quality and Public Health Congress, to be held on March 14 to 16, 2007, at the city of Manizales, Colombia.

Objectives

At the end of the Congress:

• The participants (students and professionals) will have new opportunities to exchange information and experiences that allow the formulation and development of practical and effective proposals for the reduction of air pollution in their cities or regions.
• The Universities will have presented the results of their research, which could be used as the scientific and technical support for environmental and public health authorities to develop better policies. Also, researchers will have presented proposals of new projects that respond to current necessities on air quality and public health, will have formed networks and will have looked for opportunities to finance their projects.
• The environmental authorities will have enriched their point of view; will have presented their plans and policies for the improvement of air quality in their cities or regions. Also, they will have generated bonds with experts who assist them to avoid errors, to prioritize the activities of their present plans or to correct previous plans.
• The Society in general will have increased its awareness of the problem; will have more arguments to demand the right to a clean air and will have understood the technical limitations of their cities or regions regarding the challenge of air pollution control.
